Minivans aren’t as popular as they used to be, but the 2023 Honda Odyssey is a rare model that continues to provide for those looking to get a minivan instead of an SUV.
Overview
The 2023 Honda Odyssey is an eight-seat minivan with three rows for people. This year’s model is available in five trims: EX, EX-L, Sport, Touring, and Elite.
Pricing
Pricing for the 2023 Honda Odyssey ranges from $37,340 on the low end to $49,470 for the most luxurious model. As with all vehicle pricing, this does not include any bargains or offers from a dealership.
MPG
19 (City) to 28 (Highway)
Pros & Cons
The 2023 Honda Odyssey is a family-focused vehicle with features like a CabinWatch child viewing system to see kids who are further in the back. It also comes with the new Honda Service Pass, free scheduled maintenance for two years or 24,000 miles.
However, it’s definitely on the expensive side, with even the cheapest model costing considerably more than some minivans of the past. The Odyssey is transitioning fully into a more luxury market, and the introductory price is quite a bit higher than even the 2022 model.
Performance
280 horsepower @ 6000 rpm, standard across all models. The 2023 Honda Odyssey averages 429 miles from its 19.5-gallon fuel tank.
Interior & Comfort
Interior features include push-button start, beverage holders for all rows, rear-seat heater ducts, and tri-zone automatic climate control. Upper models add features like a HomeLink remote system, ambient LED lighting, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Acoustic glass is available starting with the EX-L trim, which helps to minimize the noise from the road.
Cargo space ranges from 32.8 cubic feet at the smallest to 158.0 cubic feet at the largest, varying slightly depending on the trim and components selected. Passengers have about 160.1 cubic feet between the three rows of seats.
Safety
Safety features are standard across all trims and include Vehicle Stability Assist, Brake Assist, Forward Collision Warnings, Lane Departure Warnings, airbags, child-proof rear door locks, and numerous other active and passive safety features. The Honda Odyssey earns excellent safety ratings annually, which isn’t likely to change anytime soon.
Driver instrumentation is robust and includes an exterior temperature indicator, low-fuel indicator, rear sat reminder system, snow mode information, and traffic sign recognition.
Technology & Infotainment
Technology in the 2023 Honda Odyssey includes Bluetooth connectivity, speed-sensitive volume compensation, an 8-inch display, numerous radio systems, and SMS text messaging. Luxury models include rear-seat entertainment systems, extra power outlets, an HDMI interface, satellite navigation, wireless internet hotspot capability, and a wireless phone charger.
Reviews
Car and Driver give the 2023 Honda Odyssey a 9/10. They like the reconfigurable seating and the driver assistance seating and feel that the acceleration is impressive for a minivan. However, they aren’t as impressed by the weight of the second-row seats, and they also think the infotainment system is a little outdated for a luxury vehicle.
