2021 Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition

The Ford Mustang Mach-E is Ford’s only all-electric crossover SUV. The Mach-E Select is the line’s base model and offers a wide range of standard features. Mechanically it isn’t related to the classic Mustang. However, Ford chose to co-opt the name to indicate the Mach-E’s sporty nature and body style.

The Mach-E Select offers abundant cargo space, a comfortable interior, and top-of-the-line safety features. In addition, it’s a reasonably quick vehicle, reaching 60 mph in 5.2 seconds.

Starts at $42,895

The Mach-E Select gets approximately 230 miles on a single charge.

  • Most of Ford’s best safety features
  • Phone as a key
  • Over-the-air software updates

  • No extended battery range
  • 360-degree cameras are not standard

  • 266 horsepower
  • 428-lb-ft of torque
  • 0-60 in 5.2 seconds

Interior & Comfort

The Mach-E Select offers the Comfort/Technology package or the Comfort/Appearance package.

Overall, the Mach-E Select’s reception has been favorable. Reviewers and drivers find its appearance in line with the sportiness of the Mustang. Essentially, it’s the midpoint between a sports car and a fuel-conscious EV.

Many praise Mach-E Select’s high-performing capabilities. It outperforms many other EVs in its class. Its ability to go from 0-60 in just over 5 seconds is more in line with gas-powered vehicles. It can get 230 miles to a single charge, and that’s also a key selling point.

The main complaint with the Mach-E Select is that it doesn’t quite live up to some competitors. In particular, the Tesla Y outperforms it in multiple areas. Specifically, the Mach-E Select gets 266-hp to Tesla’s 447 and has a 230-mile driving range compared to the Y’s 326.

Another complaint is that the Mach-E doesn’t have the V8 many drivers would look for in a Mustang. As a result, the engine’s roar is lacking, which gives this vehicle the smooth, quiet ride you’d expect from a crossover.
