As most of you probably already know, the Imperial Federal Goobermit's BATF&E is going to ban the M855 ammo used in both .223 and AR-15 rifles. The reason they "say" they want to ban it is because of it's use in the AR mod pistol, which isn't a pistol in the traditional sense but is instead a short rifle about 20 inches long. According to BATF this ammo is considered to be "armor piercing" and a hazard to law enforcement, BUT, and this is the part they don't mention, ANY CENTER FIRE .223 RIFLE BULLET WILL PENETRATE POLICE BODY ARMOR!!! Get that? But BATF&E doesn't mention the "other" bullets, only the most popular sporting/target shooting bullet, the M855?? Are all .223 bullets next? [-X

ATF is taking public comments through March 16, 2015 about the proposed ban through email at APAComments@atf.gov and by fax at (202) 648-9741. Comments can also be sent through the mail to:

Denise Brown, Mailstop 6N-602, Office of Regulatory Affairs, Enforcement Programs and Services, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, 99 New York Avenue, NE, Washington, DC 20226: ATTN: AP Ammo Comments

PLEASE write BATF and tell them NOT to ban the M855 bullet. You might also ask them why they didn't mention the fact that ALL .223/5.56 center fire bullets will penetrate police vests and what their plans are for THOSE bullets??
