G,day all,
I'm open to suggestions! trying to maximize what i have.
approx 3200 lbs, footbrake, 359 cubed cleveland , flat tappet, 2v cast iron heads.
c4 trans, 29 x 10 hoosiers, 4.56 gears.
First pass on this video is a 10.01 which is my pb at nearly 133.
Trying to run a nine with what i have but not lose consistancy.
What do you guys see?
Just fitted some afco da rear shocks, i think the car is twisting on the launch and thinking about going to a very solid sway bar.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9uiG8w1fQw

Last run on the video was a 10.090 run on a 10.09 dial for a win,
Cheers and thanks!
Paul

Paul Im not the best at this but you need to load that vid on a program that will slow it down so it can be viewed frame by frame. And with my limited ability with puters I just can't help you out... #-o

When I record vids of my car we play them back with Quicktime Player on the computer. You can pause that recording then use the right and left arrow keys to do a frame by frame view that will show you stuff you never saw. It will even show you NO lights on between bulbs on the tree coming down! O:)

Unfortunately youtube doesn't give you that function and the only way to do it that I know of is to upload that vid to a server and let ppl download it and use Quicktime then.

Maybe someone else has a better way of doing this and will chime in. :-k

Paul, fourtenposi has a Nova that is similarly equipped as your car, tire wise, and his car works very well off the footbrake. Maybe he will have a look and can give you some feedback. I haven't done any footbrake racing since back in the 1970s so I'm just not up to speed on it.

Did you try playing that vid with Quicktime and doing the frame by frame thingie I posted? Most of the new digital cameras use .MOV format which is a Quicktime Player codec I think.

Hardtail altered here. No help. I have enough problems with my own launch.

G,day Ken,
Thanks mate, yes i have looked at it frame by frame, just was wanting other opinions.
I've decided to go with a real heavy sway bar in the rear, i've just put some da afco's in the rear but i'm going to send my original shocks and the new afco's to a guy with a shock dyno and get him to set the afco's up the same as the shocks that come out.
I will use that as my baseline setting then tune it from there as it worked fairly well.
I think there may be room to move in the front as it seems to unload the rear as the front tops out, instead of 90/10's i may tighten the rebound to slow the front slightly, i have a friend that is going to lend me some ce 3way adjustable front shocks for it.
I think if i can get some equal rear tyre loading with a good sway / anti roll bar it may go a ways towards helping it.
Thanks a lot!
Cheers
Paul

Paul what we did with that tube chassis door car I had was try to get the rear suspension neutral at the hit, ie, limit extension or compression of the rear shocks and much of that was done moving the IC of the 4 link.

Recording videos from the rear and off to the right or left of the car with focus on the rear tires will show whether it separates or compresses leaving. If your guy can get the camera angle just right then you can get the fronts in view also.

G,day Ken,
Thanks for that! That's pretty much exactly what i'm trying to achieve also, normally it seperates slightly, and will try to get it level as well,
Cheers

Paul, Most will say a 1/2 inch of shock extension is acceptable and that works for me so I just leave it alone.. Here is a log from a run. Shock is the bottom scale..

you need to first limit your body roll .
looks like yo need more initial shock extension/hit in rear as it still <.5 into run and its nosing up with o separation . then your rt. rear is collapsing with body roll.
will fox body stuff work in that car i assume its a factory four link.
wolf has good stuff.
get a real anti roll bar
.video it after install with shocks and spring even.
if your outta bucks make a nascar weight jack plate and "preload "right rear
