Was thinking about running some electronic gauges because of the distance the engine is from the dash. Has anyone run these with any success on a dragster before? :-k

I run a digital voltmeter and digital temp gauge, have always used them in my dragsters. I firmly believe in the ability to repeat temps better with a digital temp gauge.

Do you mean digital or electric, as in 'not mechanical'?

What I meant is a sending unit on engine and a wire running to the electric (if that's what you want to call it) gauge in the dash. I've got an add on cheap electric temp gauge on my Dodge diesel and it's worked fine for about 8 years now so it looks like the sending units hold up pretty good.

I guess I'll try some of the cheap ones on the dragster to see how long they will last and put a big red idiot light on the oil pressure sender for a backup since I already have one of those anyway.

Was just wondering if anyone else had tried any of those type gauges.

I use the Autometer electric gauges in mine and I don't have any problem with them at all. I've had these in the Probe since I finished it and have never had an issue with the senders or the accuracy.

I also have them for Trans temp and water temp...I took the advise from Mark and like he said it's real easy
to read the temps...

I know your cheep Ken but why not get a better gauge the first time that way you wont buy them twice and
spend more #-o ...

The other advantage is to install multiple sending units and a switch and use the single gauge for multiple readings. ie. engine oil temp and trans oil temp. It speaks to Ken's cheap side =;

I used Cyberdyne digital gauges in my Camaro for Oil temp and trans temp. I liked them and plan to buy some for the dragster when time permits.

Well, until this Camaro is sold I've got to start cutting corners somewhere and while these gauges might not last that long, if they can get me through this season (September and October) maybe "Santa" will bring me something better for Christmas. Ya think, or will it just be lumps of coal and switches again?? O:) =;

Right now I'm thinking that I still have to spend around $2800 to get to the track and while I'm not broke yet, I am bent pretty bad! ](*,)

I know several around here that are using the cheapo electrics from O'Riely's in drag cars as well as dirt cars. They have the expensive look with the budget price, should be right up Ken's alley. lol
