Hello to all here, I am in Adelaide in  South Australia, Australia. I have been in  motorsports all my life, never driven just crewed etc. Started when I was 6 yrs old, Dad and his friend (who drove) started racing speedway in 1962 and won so many championships and things it cant be remembered. I was active in it even then with whatever I could do as a little kid. By the time I was 12yrs I was making fuel tanks and parts for the race cars and discussing design innovations. I came up with special shocker designs before we had even heard of Carrera and Koni etc. We made shockers that were stock off the self housings but with our own  valving inside, they worked very well and were a major part of the success. We made our own tyre tread patterns that others went to great lengths to copy, even laying down paper on the pit gate to try and get prints of our treads. Pretty funny stuff.
We had driver adjustable wings in 1966, aerodynamic leading edge slots, flaps, Hydraulic weight jackers. It was a good upbringing being in the shed. In the 60's here nobody purchased everything, you had to make everything yourself, It was an entirely different scene to the USA speedway. We made an entire car, made the wheels, diff housings, gearbox, axles, chassis, body, engine components. Didnt make the engine block of course. Used our own oiling system in the engine, made the inlet manifold to accommodate 6 * 2 barrel Stromberg 97's, sand bent the exhaust systems did all that stuff with Dad. I remember coming home from school to watch the first Moon landing and when it was over we went straight out into the shed, layed the chalk lines and cut the first piece of steel for a new car.

Now days I oversee my own sons making carburetors. I didnt always make carbys, I just fell into it as you do because you want to go faster. Started off in 1991 on my sisters drag car, made some bowls for the Holley and it went faster so over the years bits and pieces of ideas came together. I was working with a friend on a gokart and we started mucking around with carburetion and discovered lots of inadequacies and solutions to them. Then one day I became so frustrated with the Holley on my street car I decided to not run it again until I had made a carburetor for it, so I designed my own carby and haven't looked back since.
Now I dont get enough time to do the research I want to do, so its annoying me. There just isn't enough life time to fit in what I want to do.

I enjoy discussing things and reading about problems. I don't post on what jets to run etc, I try to post in ways to encourage people to learn for themselves. So see you all around some time. Regards Bruce.

yeah Its funny you know; when you make your own parts if you start winning others try to get your stuff banned. Happens to me all the time, recent years we made a V6 spintcar, thats a class here thats speedcar chassis with V6 engines in them and wings etc. Made our own wings, carbys, manifolds, mufflers, nerf bars. All sorts of stuff different on the car, won everything, set all records etc. then the rule book became unlocked and they banned our wing positions ( not the wing just the positions we ran it in, said they were unsafe, I dont know how going really fast and stable is unsafe but thats the line they took), our mufflers( said they were too quite, drivers complained they coudnt hear us coming), our fuel tank type( said it wasnt big enough, we never run out of fuel), our carburetors( said its was too hard for other to copy), our inlet manifold (said it worked too good and all the others didnt want to change and you couldnt buy them) our ignition system( said it was not required), our nerf bars( said titanium was too expensive, it was actually cheaper running with them).
So we left.

Must have been a socialist running that track.  Like our new president says, you're suppose to share with those that are "less fortunate"!??  I didn't take it quite like that though.  I think what he really means is we're suppose to give to those who are too lazy to do for themselves!  OK, I'll shut up now!   O:)
