I have transferred the chassis to the rotisserie to weld it up. The legs on the jig have been folded up to make more room. A soon as I finish welding the chassis, I will set it back on the jig and fit the cage. The seat braces have been added and the carbon fiber seat trimmed to fit.
I had to go back to a forward mounted tank. There is not enough room between the engine and the cage for the rear fuel tank. The Afco radiator is mounted to the rear deflector with rubber bushings.

Had I known the engine compartment would be this tight I would have gone to a 235-245" wheelbase with another 5" added to the engine compartment. Live and learn.

       Comming along nicely. Can't wait to see it all decked out.
I was wondering when you finish the welding the frame did the upright pull the bottom rails? My altered I just put on a frame jig shows that almost every upright pulled the bottom rail about a 1/8" in a 1' span. I put it on the jig because I tweaked the front A arms on a wheel stand and decided to build a jig. The guy who I purchased the chrome moly chassis from is no longer around. Just wondering if yours pulled up a littel at every upright.

        My bottom rails did not pull.  The jig held the rails nicely.

It has been awhile since I posted any news on this project. I started a new job and it has been taking most of my time this month. The cage is done except for the helmet bars. I had to leave them out so I could get my head between the bars to do the welding. The cherry picker made it easy to turn it upside down to weld the cage. It was too close to the floor on the rotisserie to weld.
I feel like I am in a steel cocoon when I set in it. Tight fit at 23" wide for my 6', 275 lb. frame.

Looking good John, Their is something about a unpainted rolling chassis that is prettier than a finished car.  Maybe because it's naked.  I do like naked.  I look forward to your updates. You got to be proud of what you have done so far.

Will you be using alum. body panels for it or a 1 pc. fiberglass body ?

I have an aluminum body KIT. You have to do alot of flanging, bending, and cutting to get it to fit. It will take me awhile to get it fitted correctly.
The aluminum body is uncharted territory for me. I have a bead roller with flange dies that I will be using with this portion of the build.

I'm not a dragster guy at all, but being a fabrication junkie, I really enjoyed reading and watching your progress.

Looks like it's coming along quite well. Should be a real sense of accomplishement when your done.

Guys:
        The aluminum body is going real slow. I only have Saturdays to work on the dragster. I need some experienced guys to help with the bending and flanging the body panels. So far, no help has been available. You only get one shot with these panels and they cost too much to screw up.
