S&W Kit Dragster

This is the beginning of my advanced ET kit dragster that I bought from S&W race cars. The jig is 24" wide and 20' long. It has 3" "C" channel crossmembers. I am just tack welding all the tubing at this stage. I am using a Miller Syncrowave 250 for the TIG welding.

There is something about unfinished tubing that makes you feel good. Is it that it's a winner, that sucker ain't never been beat yet? Looks good. Keep us updated.

Yes, on the Advanced ET dragster they do come pre-notched and cut. I have had to trim a few to get them to fit just right. But, that is not a problem with a tubing notcher.

The cage itself is not notched. They have no way of knowing the driver's height. SFI Specs 2.5B states that the cage has to have a 2" minimum between the driver's helmet and the bottom of the actual roll cage tubing.
So you get to figure all that out for yourself.

The kit comes with the Strange Aluminum dragster housing with 4 link brackets. :-$

So did I read that you're in NC? If so, what part? I run at Piedmont and Roxboro. Do ya ever go there?

I have been to Piedmont before. Most of the time it is Fayetteville, Rockingham, Darlington. Piedmont is a pretty good pull for us.

All tubing has a # on it which matches the blueprints. I have not chosen a pedal set-up yet. If you look at the picture of the housing, you can see the tubing laying in front of it. The number is visible on one piece. The numbers are marked with a permanent yellow marker. The top photo of the jig shows one of the crossmembers with the # on it.

LOL I see you ran short of clamps and had to buy new ones, Been there. All mine look like they was welded with bird poop. Thinking about it, some of them are older than most guys here.
