Well...To make a long story short, I had this car given to me and I was just taking extra parts and adding them to it to make a daily car. I then decided to ditch the 350 for a newly rebuilt 455. Then, I decided to put a cam and convertor to get it into the mid 11's. I also had a 71 GS car that was a stalled project,but had NOS fenders,inner fender,radiator support etc. I had to thin the herd and parted that car out. So, I decided to take this car and make a fun racer car which my wife and daughter can also race. I bought all the glass parts,sold the original 3.42 GS posi and had a 3.90 8.5 built with 30 spline Moser axles,Eaton posi and Yukon gears and a 1350 yoke. I also put a reverse pattern manual valve body TH 400 in  and have installed a 3 inch mandrel bent exhaust. Some or the other additions were tubular upper (adjustable)and lower rear control arms, a Ron Davis aluminum radiator,a set of 2001 Trans Am dual fans,braided -8 fuel line and a sumped stock tank. I have added Stage 1 heads,a TA single plane intake which was powdercoated along with the  front timing cover,as well as a used Mallory Uni-lite distributor. I now know I am way under cammed and need a 3500 stall convertor ,but I will have to try to live with this new motor till I can scrape enough coin to build my 470 Buick stroker motor. I am taking the vinyl top off and painting the car a sorta orange/red color. I have all the GSX spoilers and such,but I don't think I'll paint the X stripes. I am looking for a 10 second car and I'll be more than happy.I am planning to add a 10 point cage in the next few weeks and will be taking it to my buddy who is a certified welder to have it all mig welded. My theme for this car is to use used parts and trade parts I am not using to get parts I need. The car has been named ALL-PARTS and its fitting. I have about $10,000 in the car but since I actually traded,sold and worked out deals on parts, I have $2300 out of pocket in it total.I have about $1500-$2000 more of safety parts to buy if I buy new(TH 400 shield,battery box,driveshaft etc) but hope to have it all for about 1/2 that.

Looks like you have a good start. That paint will look great then. Now you and Barry could be a race team =;

Is that the 68 69 red? My neighbor has a red 68 that color and a 70 that is the same yellow as you are painting over.

Well,
been a bit busy lately and forgot to add to this thread.. Like the movie The Waterboy..What momma don't know wont hurt her...lol
I fitted all my glass parts and on friday I removed then again to start putting in the cage. I am opting for a 12 point instead of a 10 point and I am hopefully getting it started this week or next for sure. I did some ripping apart,but the worst part of the adjusting is over now.

I like what I see with this firewall, smooth, clean, and that square hole for the trans tunnel and removable cover in the car also is trick too, can you give me some more details on the firewall?  Thanks and this is looking good, take your time and have fun, it will pay off later for ya. =;  =D>  =D>
