So I plan to do a swap from 4.56 to 4.86s. It will help out my SLR from a 8.2 to an 8.75. Figure it will increase my rpms about 400 rpms through the 1/8.

Do you all think I will see positive results?

It all depends. Haw many RPM's you crossing at now? What RPM range for the cam? How big of a carb?

I am crossing the 1/8 around 6500-6600 rpms. Figure the gear change should bump it to around 7000 but that isn't taken into account any additional et/mph gained by the change. Cam makes good power to 7400-7500, engine made peak power at 7000. I got my 830 demon on there now, but I got my dominator that I plan on throwing on there. It has the same specs as the one mark won the carb challenge with.

Should help then. I would look for 5 or so numbers anyway. Could be better.

It should help the ET and a 5.14 or 5.38 would make it even quicker if it can still hook.

I got a good deal on the 4.86s, but I have been eyeballing some 5.29s on the roush website. Although I would be turning more rpms than I would want. It would be fun to try. Still want to see how these nascar gears hold up before I get more.
