3100 lb. car W/driver, blown 540, about 800 hp.
4200 stall 9" converter, 4L80E trans, 3.89 gears, Detroit Locker, 16.5 X 32 Goodyear slicks.
Footbraking it, all I can hold with the brakes is about 25 ~ 2700 rpm.
Best its ever gone is 9.02 @ 151 with a 1.34 60 ' ( in 44' air).
If I compare my 60's with other cars going similar mph, my 60's look pretty soft, most are 1 ~ 2 tenths quicker in 60's.
If I launch from an Idle and flash the converter, it picks up about .04 in 60's and 1/4 ET but I can't cut a light for the life of me.
Footbraking, it does seem to 60 better if I get it to rpm higher against the brakes (no 2-step).
So, do you think it'll pick up the 60's if I put a transbrake in ?
This car does see some street use so, no, I don't want to give up my O/D trans.

In your case it's a toss up as there's no guarantee that the chassis will handle the "hit" but in theory yes, "most" cars are quicker in the short times off the Tbrake and that translates into quicker ETs by the difference in the 60ft amount.

Trans and converter are both Art Carr units, they say 1000 hp capable (?) Aftermarket input shaft, forward & direct drums, Mark Williams driveshaft & yokes, Lenco Detroit Locker, Strange nodular center section, Strange 35 spline axles.

What, specificly, should I be concerned about ?

Thanks,
Howard

Ken;
If you're thinking chassis flex;
its a street rod chassis W/ a glass body ..... they make them stiff (and heavy) to stop the 'glass cracking.
I've seen no evidence of excessive chassis flex ( no lifting of left front etc.) but then, I haven't been hitting it very hard it seems.

I'd just like to push it into the 8's and that may be the easiest way. Itd be nice to get more consistancy too ! Maybe go another round or 2. =;

Oh yeah; its caged, 4-link, adjustable Koni's all 'round. Straight axle W/ a single transverse leaf in the front.
But because it started life (12 years ago) as a street rod, the rear 4-link is all wrong and doesn't really "work", I've just stuffed enough rubber under it that it doesn't spin =; .
Its kind of "morphed" into more race than street, I haven't licensed it in a couple years.
I just do 3 or 4 "nostalgia type" races a year.
