So yours do this also??

I've never seen this before on any tire I've ever run? I'm wondering of the cord is giving up maybe from the screws in the bead? Both are doing this with the left rear worse than the other. Those lines are actually raised up some from the rest of the tire and they're getting worse the more I run them. :-k The screw spacing in the rim is a little less than 8" and those lines are a little less than 8" also??

Think I might send that photo to Hoosier and see what they say.

Put screws every 4" and see if the lines get closer together. =;

Yes my Hoosiers look just like that. I never bothered to figure out why.

I have also seen that when walking in the lanes...Maybe your Camaro did it also but never noticed it
cause the body covers the tire..

from the hoosier web site
http://www.hoosiertire.com/Drtire.htm

4. I use a Hoosier (slick) drag tires and have noticed what appear to be "X's" appearing across the contact portion of the tread surface, what is this and should I be concerned?

ANSWER: This is the "shadowing" effect of the splices within the slick drag tire. All our tires have splices, this is where two ends of the tire cord material is joined together to complete an entire body ply or belt. This area where the two ends are spliced together is obviously stronger along the splices and as a result deflects differently than areas with no splices and the result is this "shadowing" effect. You see this more on drag tires than other tires due to the softer compounds being used and the fact that the tread is a smooth surface

Thanks. I went looking for that last night before I went to sleep but Leno came on and I never found it.

Funny, I never saw this on any other brand of tire that I've run, ie, Goodyear, Firestone or M/Ts? :-k In fact, I've run Hoosiers before too on that other dragster I had and never noticed this?

Oh well, at least I have "their" explanation. ;-)

Well completely forgot to look for the X on Goodyears on the 30th.
i was to busy going to the final.red light in the final was a $725 mistake.
Went back on 7/7 made it down to 9 cars out of 50+ and still forgot to look for the X.
we don't race for 2 weeks now but going to set a reminder in my phone to look for X next time out.

first, screws should only make lines in the side wall not the tread. and second, look at the fuel cars on tv they run goodyears and have those same lines in the tread.
