Hi Everyone
I haven't been on here in ages, but I have a question now. Just bolted in my trans, I put about one qt of fluid in the converter and 7 more in the trans, about how much more does a PG hold? It does have approx 3" deep pan. Don't want to start it unless I have enough trans fluid. One more thing, I heard with a pro tree brake, you need to engage it in order to go in reverse, is this true? Just ordered my drive shaft yesterday, so this thing may be moving by next weekend.

You didn't say what size converter this is but with 8 quarts in you're probably close to full, especially with an 8" one.

Go ahead and start the engine and run it for a minute or so then check the level again as the pump in the tranny will finish filling the verter in pretty short order.

And yes, on a Pro Brake valve body reverse only works with the T brake engaged.

If I start it, is fluid going to pour out the tail shaft, or should I just wait for the drive shaft?

Well Mike, that's a good question as I've never run one without the drive shaft yoke in. If you got a spare yoke you could stick that in the hole just to make sure but I don't recall seeing any pressurized oil passages dumping behind the rear governor support.

Oh, and a word of caution if you decide to start it without the shaft in, if you move the shifter out of park, turn the engine off before you try to put it back as everything will be rotating even in neutral. Stopping the engine is the only way to stop that rotation. ;-)

X2 also I would not make any gear changes other than 1-2-N every thing else stops or changes directions on internals including trans break
