Hey Guys,

I am wanting some opinions on what should happen with a converter swap.
I normally run a 9" 5600 Converter I dropped in a
8" Converter that went to about 6100-6200 on the converter..(chip Pulled).
Any opinions on the performance side of it?
I normally shift at 6700 I think that will need moved up a hundred or 2.
Thanks

Well the converter is too loose. I ran a 6.36@106 off the trailer with a 1.39 60'
Turned the launch up to 4400 spun worse 6.38@106 with a 1.41 60'
The truck would not hook.. Ended up turning the launch down to 3600 and shift to 6900 took the timing down to 32° and was running 6.35@107 with a 1.39 60' all night.
Ended up in the final and got runner up. He got the tree and I hooked a little better pedeling it to a 6.33@105 double breakout. Had a good night but didnt like turning it 7300 across the stripe!

Wow O:) That thing was loose. Take it to Brad and get it tightened. With the smaller converter did it rev and quicker? We run an 8 in also. Congrats on runner up. Your on a roll \:D/ \:D/ \:D/

Thanks Steve! Doyle Hair was the winner! I was fine with that. He had some family there with him so it is good to see that as well. Do you have Brads Number?

Jody, I think that the 8" will be quicker than the 9" if you get it to the proper stall but remember a loose converter will be way more constant than a tight one but will et less

Thanks Barry.. I dont like that much RPM with the current cam and valvesprings (they are old).
I didnt realize the looser one would be more consistant, it was doing well for the conditions it was in.
I think my best option is to put in the 9" I normally run and this winter have the 8" adjusted to the next level of the motor.. ie. New camshaft, valvesprings.. That way I am not spending that money twice. I really need suspension work before I spend money on the motor so that will be the next step.

502-821-9169 is brads #. Good to hear Doyle getting a win. \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ The older guy that hangs out with you, I can't think of his name not Willy, stopped by the pits last night at BG. We had a good talk. Of course more about you. ;-)
