Jody a word of concern O:) ...When you are out of shape (referring to your commit of "Almost crossing the center line") It's fast enough to get out of control f and when them rear tires start to roll on there sides there is no return....

Remember there is always next week and your truck will be in one piece ;-)

Well after getting it out the passenger side was broken loose about 1 1/4 from the top down and about the same from the bottom up, the bracket was twisted a little also. So we cut them off and started over. Now there is about 1" up on each side of each bracket with solid weld then we added some 1" flat steel as a back strap. I think they are solid now but I can see the axle tubes are bowed.. So I need to start thinking about upgrading the rear end sometime soon.
If I do that maybe it will also get a 4-link.. don't know.

If that's the housing I worked on for you I think I was concerned about the brackets at the time and urged you to reinforce them back then. I'm glad you caught it before it cost you a truck. I remember seeing a Vega on it's roof just past the 60 at Hardinsburg because of a ladder bar bracket that broke off the housing .

Well after racing this weekend I think the rear is solidly under the truck again.
I was still having traction issue's.. Went 1.39 on the 60 the 1st pass then 1.3599 on the 2nd
so I raised the rear shocks 1 hole to lower the hit on the tire and the next pass it felt better but had a 1.351 60' next passes were 1.3500 and then a 1.339 then spinning to a 1.3597 losing that round. So I looked at the photo from the pic people at the track they zoomed in on the sidewall of the drivers side rear. At 9.5psi it had the tire wrinkled about 1/2 way around. So I think lowering the hit is the thing to do. So I will lower the front of the ladder bars this week to see how that does...

Jody & Chuck, are you guys going to the Door Slammers this weekend? I haven't touched the car since we loaded it at Milan in September :- #-o

I should be there. I might test Friday. Eddy's going to BG so if you're going to be there I might get you to lend a hand. I'm thinking Greg might do some driving this weekend.

Well It helped alot lowering the front of the ladder bars back to the middle hole. Now after the re-welding the brackets on the housing it gave the rod ends a little room to work. They used to be snug just to put them in, now they go in with just enough free movement. The times were...

60' ET
1.3357 6.3653
1.3197 6.3467
1.3430 6.3679
1.3325 6.3201
1.3328 6.3073
1.3347 6.3163
1.3405 6.3221

Looks like pretty consistant numbers. The dial in moved a little, but the 60's were pretty consistant. I was chasing that 1.31 all night. Now next weekend is the big bracket finals at our track. I just need to adjust my valves a bit then it will be ready.

I decided to scratch the doorslammers this weekend. Those weekend long races wear me out and 2 of them back to back seemed like it would be a little much. So I went to us60last night. They really had the starting line in good shape, my 60s were in the teens all night and I clocked one 1.15 60. I was spinning the tires a little in 3rd but that didn't keep me from running a couple of 5.49s =; .
