its behind about 1200hp
done a few sprags and drums , do the sprags reverse rotate when i get off the gas ,i am only going off what i have been shown inside my gearbag
something about engine braking in 2nd and 3rd
i would rather have a forward pattern valve body so i can get it into neutral if i get into trouble
mine is reverse pattern atm

Good to have you here Steve. There are a couple of us here that build our own Glides, I know Barry does his own and so do I. I'm sure we'll have some questions for ya along the way. It will be good to get some fresh ideas on stuff.

I built my first Glide back in the late 80s. I've done a few for some local racers over the years but now mostly only fool with my own stuff as I've gotten REAL lazzy since I retired. I've done a couple of TH350s too but there's not that much demand for those any more, at least not around here.

I've got a questiond for you. I read an article some years back where the author noted some HP requirements for turning some different transmissions. I've searched and searched and I've never been able to find it again but there were some interesting statistics on power requirements to turn the different transmissions. Do you know of or have any written facts on horsepower requirements to turn the different automatics? The figures I saw before stated that it only took about 6 HP to turn a Glide, about 25HP to turn a TH350 and a big number of 38HP to turn a C-6 Ford. I had someone not too long ago question where that info came from and for the life of me I haven't been able to find the origin of those figures. An interesting note though. All of the local guys I've built Glides for to replace TH350s usually run .2 quicker and a couple of MPH fater, which would support the HP figures I remember.

Any help?

hey tranman are ken..ive got a buddy that runs round track, and he was wondering if he could take out everything but first and reverse in his 350 turbo so there would be less turning weight..its a short track is why he dont need any other gears...thanks

Transman, are all th400 cases the same length, the case minus the tailshaft. I'm asking because I have a caddy500 and th400 to replace a blown 454 and th400 in a willys 4x4 project.
