What material driveshaft are you guys running?

Steel, mildsteel, chrome moly or aluminum???

Im gonna upgrade the 8 3/4" rear axel for a Dana60 and decided that it would be smart to upgrade the driveshaft at the same time with 1350 size slip yoke and u-joint..

The car is a heavy 1970 Dodge Charger, weight about 3750Lbs...

Thanks...

/Tom

GET ALL YOU CAN AFFORD!

My 3500 lb Studebaker Pro Streeter has a mild steel 3 inch shaft with 1350 Spicer joints with NO grease fittings. That car has run 10.0s at 137 mph at that weight.

FYI, last year, while driving my Camaro I accidentally got into reverse at the finish line on an eight mile track while I was running 125 MPH, and the drive shaft bent but didn't break and neither did the joints. In fact, I'm still running that exact same rear gear!

Tom I know some of you guys in Europe have terrible import tariffs you have to pay so what do have available there in Stockholm?

FWIT, my Camaro has a 3.5 inch DOM mild steel tube shaft with 1350 Spicer weld on yokes that was built at the local truck body shop. I also use a Moser transmission slip yoke and pinion yoke but Spicer makes those also and may be available to you there in Sweden. With what that shaft of mine went through hitting reverse in the lights last year, I'd say it's damn near indestructible. ;-)

But Barry's right on the shaft. If you can afford one of those and don't mind spending the money, then by all means use it. Me, I'm cheap so I used the $140 shaft from a local shop.

Thanks for the replys Guys \:D/

I have been checking out the driveshafts on sale over at manciniracing..

These are the ones they have... http://chucker54.stores.yahoo.net/driveshafts.html
I figured this one should be up for the job 1350 Moly Assembly With 29 Spline, 3 x .095 Tube - 54"

The pricing aint that bad and I would also order some other stuff aswell, that would also save on shiping cost and customs...

The Denny┬┤s Nitrous driveshaft is a really nice piece. Only thing I dont get is that at the page they state that Mopars (Dodge) have 26 or 30 spline slip yokes??? To my understanding Mopars have either 25 or 29.. Then again paying about 7000 Swedish for a driveshaft.. -Hmm O:)
