How much backspacing do you run on your rear wheels. Whats better more or less ?.

Phil the new thought on this is that the less backspacing, the less rear housing mass, ie, the rear housing can be shorter to work with less back spacing. Both my cars are 7.5 inches but Chuck and others run way less just to make the rear end lighter.

Yep, less backspacing won't affect the weight of the wheel but it will make the housing & rotating mass of the axles lighter not to mention it will make the wheels easier to change on a low door car. There was some thinking that a wheel that had the center closer to the middle of the wheel would deflect less but that probably is insignificant. Look at the pro stockers.

Also if you have a door car it will be easier to get the tire off O:)

'cept that in a door car it depends on the width of the tire and the width of the wheel well. I don't have a whole lotta space so the correct backspacing is critical on mine lest I get tire rub.

thanks guys, only reaosn I ask is that my altered has 7.5in, thought this was a lot .
I'm looking at a set of 6.5in to buy, so will end up increasing the rear end track by 1in either side but it shouldn't notice too much.
