The smart thing would be not to do that O:) if you don't have a pro brake...Get your self a pro brake and it won't  happen again...TSR makes a nice pro brake and it has a good USA made solenoid...

I have seen 2 door cars end up on there roof doing that  O:)

ImageTell me how I knew that was coming?Image

Thought I was having issues with oil pressure and was watching the gauge at the stripe.  Seems I can no longer do more than one thing at a time as somehow I made it into reverse at the stripe rather than neutral.  Yeah, it's a TCI/Perry shifter with a reverse lockout but obviously I inadvertently pulled the lockout while I was looking at the oil pressure gauge.

Oh, I've since concluded that the gauge is "Tango Uniform" so a $20 gauge has cost me a $300 gear set.

Wow.

My shifter takes 2 hands to get reverse. But I do have a Pro Brake and the K&R wont let the TBrake be reactivated without a reset.

Youv'e got to be kidding right Ken?????????  :-&  :-&  :-&  Well, no point in mentioning things to do & NOT to do as you know what to do, you just had a brain F**t and lost concentration.  Yeah, $300. is a chunk to bite off, but let's hope your trans gearset held up and still has all the teeth in it :-

I would like to take a stab at your gearset, if you run a 5.13, you will probably slow down a bit, and if you go to a 5.67, you will have the rpm's you need, and can shift a little lower than you DID =;  =;  =;  with the 5.43 :-$  save some power up above in the higher rpm scale if you need it later on.  Just an opinion though, you know your car better than me, but it makes sence to have a little too much, than not enough and you can always taper down your range in the powerband, right?  Or, just buy another 5.43 and go racing again next weekend \:D/  \:D/  \:D/  \:D/

Sure glad I have my B & M Pro Stick, I will never hit reverse going down track.

Keep us informed Ken, and sorry to hear about this situation. =P~

John

Holy snapping duck s**t

This brings back some bad memories of a car that I was considering the purchase of prior to my Pontiac

Glad to hear that you are OK Ken

The car that I was referring to was totally destroyed going through the traps about 8 seconds after my partner asked why I didn’t buy it as it was a very nice looking car

Glad to see that your car didn’t end up the same Ken

Regards
Rod

I have seen the aftermath of that before, one of my best friends did that in a Monza with a factory Vega shifter at the Division 2 finals years ago. He had to be airlifted out, spent a week in the Hospital in Gainesville before he could be transfered to one in Orlando, a couple more weeks there. Lucky for him he was at Shands, the worst of his injuries(beside broken bones, missing chunks of skin...) was a cut achilles tendon. I had to pick up the car, part of the guardrail had gone in the car behind the drivers door, cut the belt, went through the drivers seat pushing him out of the way into the passenger seat, and hit the right cylinder head. His legs ended up outside the passenger window and the car upside down. That part of the guardrail was ripped off and came home with the car. After that I designed and built my own brake that required the TB to be engaged for reverse. Count your blessings on this one. I have the TSR brake currently that I built as a kit and works great, I won't run without one even with the good shifters available.

WOW!!! You are really lucky that is all it did. How hard did it set you against the belts? You must be really sore today. How about the tranny?
