Well, finally got the Camaro back out there for the first time with the new motor, but she didn't even make a showing.  Straight off the trailer I was running it up the return road to warm 'er up.  I rapped on it about to half throttle while rolling along at about 20 mph.  That's when the back Spicer yoke decided to let go.

Now, I haven't changed anything in the rearend setup.  Same tranny and block, so I don't think I've put anything bad out of align.  Any ideas what could of caused this?  As you can see in the pics, the U-joint survived.  What do ya'll think?

looks like it spit the bearing caps and hammered it's way out from their. i notice the cross joint needle bearing face is very dirty may even be rusted which led to a needle bearing failure.

After checking it out a little more, I have come up with a possible theory.  I'm thinking I may have lost a C-clip that retains the U-joint caps.  This would allow the cap to be put out of the yoke, or allow it to move around enough to open up the clearance around the cap.  It's still up in the air though. :-k  :-k

Oh well.  $200 later O:)  with a replaced yoke, new u-joints, rebuilt and machined draglink (got bent while the loose driveshaft was mauling up my floor board), I just need to take a big hammer to the floor board and we'll be ready to try again. \:D/   Boy, this is gonna cut into my hunting season! :-({|=

Are you referring to the surface on the u-joint that would be within the cap? :-k   If so, it's just dirt.  This was a brand new u-joint.

just tried purchasing pheasant stamps online, got mine ok, the boy does not come up and the other boy comes up but gives me an error to try again around 1:00am to 2:00am central time. #-o  should have just taken the ride and purchased from an agent.

Gotcha ;-) !  Sorry, just lost me on that one.  I believe I bought my tags too early.  Not looking like I'll even be able to get out this winter.  Too much family coming in over the next couple of months, and my first boy is due in the next couple of weeks!  Looks like I'll be skinning diapers instead of white tails :-({|=  8-[
