Make sure you check inside once in a while so it doesn't look like this.

Sue called Monday when she got on post and said the battery light came on and that the dash said the vehicle was not charging. My first thought was the Alt was bad but I had just put a new one on in May. So I took a voltage reading when I got home at the Alt not running. No volts. Thought maybe the fusible link was out so I opened the door to the box and it didn't look right. :- Checked voltage at the bolt. Nothing O:) Then checked the bare cable by the clamp. Voltage :-k I guess there was not a lot of corrosion to cause it to start arking and getting hot. Ended up going to the dealer and $19 later all better and piece of mind.

On a Silverado I'm guessing 2000 and up it is used for the positive Jumper cable connection and a junction from the positive cable and the cable feeding the alternator. It is mounted on a bracket bolted to the engine and has a post that says negative. For the negative jumper cable.
