Ok guys, who's battery do you all use in your race cars? I can't seem to find another one identical to the one I have and I would like to have matching batteries if I can find one. I baught a DRIVING FORCE PLATINUM battery Prt#34DT-P8, cca=875, -32 deg. cca=1000 at Murray's and it is a top post, but since they changed over to O'reilly's they changed battery brands too. =P~ Does anyone have a dealer that sells these battery's anywhere near Michigan????

What do you guys run? Thanks :-$

John

I haven't heard of the battery you are using but for racing I feel you should run a gel-cell like an optima or NAPA orbital. There have been some complaints about the optima battery over the last year or so but I think that was with the red top. I have used them for years and I am happy with them. There are a couple of reasons I like the gel-cell. The most important reason is safety. A gel-cell has no liquid acid and to me the safety factor makes them worth the difference in price. Because of the type of construction you don't have to worry about how they are mounted. With a conventional battery you have to worry about the plates shift if you mount them laterally. Another advantage is they don't leak or splash acid out...ever. For what we spend on our race cars we don't want them ate up with corrosion, another point that makes that type of battery worth using.

If you still want to use the type of battery you have it doesn't matter if they match.

Thanks David & gearhead, I am still kind of looking at different batteris, and I gues it would be best to not name shop but CCA shop to match the one I have now. Funny, I have a Murray's/O'Reiley on one side of the street, and right accross the street is an AutoZone, competition is getting stiff here in the Hand state(you know, the state of Mi. is in the shape of a hand!!!!) :-
