What is the proper way to wire your master kill switch when running an alternator?
Should I run the alternator wire (GM 1-Wire) thru the 2 studs on the master switch?
Kinda of a pain to get to but if that is the proper way then I will do it that way.
Also what Gauge wire do you really need on this 1-Wire Alternator?
The little studs are really small and I wasn't sure if I can get the bigger wire in the connector end...

I ended up using a relay like Barry, that saved me from having to run a heavy wire back to the cut off switch not to mention I didn't think the small terminals on the switch would handle the current.

Those 2 small studs are only rated at 20 amps, I think thats why my alt isn't keeping up. I'm going to run mine straight to the positive terminal on the battery, will just have to remember it hot when removing the alt. :-#
8 gauge wire.

I don't think that will pass tech plus I feel better about ALL the power being shut off when the switch is off. You can get the relay like the one Barry and I used here http://www.texasindustrialelectric.com/relays.asp . We used the part no. 24612 which is rated at 100 a continuous.

Jody,
You need to put the alt. charge wire on the batt. side of your kill switch,and I'm not sure if this is what you are talking about but the connection of the two terminals under the bolt is the connection not the bolt itself.
I also use #8 wire for mine,and connectors(crimp type) are available for all sizes of wire or you can use a bolt on lug that uses a set screw type connection

Guys,

Check with these guys... http://www.colehersee.com/04resource/03 ... e.htm#D275 I can't find it in their on line catalog, but they sell a 4 post kill switch that is 4 3/8 posts rated for well over what we need.

If anything ever goes wrong you will want to be able to isolate the battery COMPLETELY from the rest of the car. We want the alternator to connect directly to the battery...the battery acts as a filter...the only way to safely and legally do it is through a 4 post switch.

I agree that the power needs to be completely cut off at the battery but I don't see why using a relay that is turned off with an isolated circuit at the cut off wouldn't be legal.

I agree...I have used the relay deal as well. The proper switch just cut down on some wiring.

That's a bad a$$ switch guys, I think I will change mine later this year, anyone know how much it cost????
