I had more ignition issue's at the track tonight. First off I put in a Brand new MSD Pro Billet Distributer. I go to the track and would not even launch missing like crazy giving it more than 1/4 pedal.  I changed the distributer back to the Junk one no help. I did some voltage tests..
While the engine is running I checked the coil's Positive side it showed less than a volt even in the negetives..I checked my friends everything the same and his shows 3-12 volts it varies as the engine is running his car runs fine. So I then ohmed and did volt checkes on the wires all seemed ok. I then found another 6al box hooked it up...Same issue.
So I get home and decide to hook it all up outside the truck with new wiring so I could see it all work and recheck the coil voltage. Get it all hooked up pretty well and got a good jolt from it then since then Nothing. I can't even get the box to click when I turn it on (hook up the hot power on wire). I am guessing it may have blown an internal fuse? What the heck is wrong with my ignition system? [-(

Jody, Did you try a different coil, coil wire...Do you have your coil mounted inside the truck...How old are your plug wires??

Are you sure it's ign and not something mechanical ???  Like a broken valve spring...

Hey Barry..I finally got it fixed. I have new wires on it ect. What I ended up doing to fix the problem is rewire all of the MSD stuff mainly the hot and ground I ran directly to the battery by themselves and ran a Floating Ground system directly from the battery to the motor and all of the other grounds are tied in to it too. For some reason the last time I ran it it was a bit off.. was running 6.30's in the heat to 6.55-6.60 in the heat.. I am looking into the valvesprings. It is not missing while going down the track just seems to have a miss if I hold the throttle about 3000 or so seems to miss.. Any other idea's?

Smooth and fine. I held it at 5000-5400 and no miss.  Just seems like it is down on power and I don't remember it not being smooth holding the throttle at 3000rpm. Shouldn't it be?

Jody do you have a "good" timing light???   Is your timing locked?? If so check it at a few rpms, hold it at a steady rpm say 3000 and see if your timing changes...Did you put a button on the end of the cam??

The Timing is smooth and steady and Locked out. checked it up to about 5000 rpm. Still right. There is a new cam button and it is shimmed correctly. I got a call from MSD today and my box had 4 capasatars and 2 resistors bad and the Rev limiter was waay out they said .53 he told me he was not sure how much rpm but did say it was ALOT.
Costing me $98 to get it back.  I am posting another side of this in the engines side of the forum...

I got the box back yesterday and hooked it all up. They put all new wiring in it too!! \:D/  I got it running and it still had a miss to it really loading up..the miss is not a dead miss just a miss that it has had the last time I took it out..It had ran without missing going down the track but was only running high 6.50's so as I was trying to track down the miss I pulled all the plugs again to regapp them and found one of them cracked 2 cracks all the way down from tip to the socket. So I replaced the plug and the miss is Gone!! So I guess it was jumping fire the whole time I was trying to run it last time out. So that might explain why it slowed from 6.30 to 6.50's. I hope so anyway. Plan on racing this weekend!! \:D/
