Congratulations! I've talked to the best methanol carb guys in the country and been running the stuff myself since back around 1996 and you're the first guy I ever heard of that can make that combo work? I'm happy for ya and if you're that good, then maybe you should go in business selling whatever it is that you got! ;-)

Thanks Ken.
I started to run methanol like you back in 1996,when our Canadian Goverment banned the use of leaded fuel in Canada. I have been working long and hard on this combo, that every one said it will not work using a 400 pump and single needle and seat bowls. I too like you have a set of PCI Dual Needle and seat bowls but, over the winter i took them off the car and put them back on the shelf and said to my self that they are staying on the car until i get them to work! Now since the tune up is correct,
i am going to turn the throttle stop on and slow the car down to 10.90 for Hot Rod and our local bracket racing program, this weekend our NHRA track has the King of the track program running and up for grabs is a Wally that i would like on my mantel beside my Iron Man.

Brian,

I also have an 80586 alcohol carb and BG 400 that I will be putting on my 555.

Care to share any of your info on your car and engine combo and your carb tune up?

My goal is to run the 8.50 Index at the local San Antonio track. My Nova should weigh right at 2750 lbs with me in it.

Are you data logging anything?

Do you want to sell your PCI bowls?

Thanks,

Hi Slow poke,
I bought my 57 Davis Vette off Robbie Mayse from Grand View Texas in Aug 2010 as a roller.
It is running a 454 LS-7 using stock GM Iron heads and a small Erson roller from R/M.
The car with me in it is 2,035 lbs and uses a 4.30 gear and 17.33-16 tires.
I use a RacPac data recorder dash to monitor, rpm, coolant temp and also trans temp, fuel pressure, vacuum pump, and also oil pressure. My Dual Needle and seat bowls i bought off Braswell in Tucson will be going up for sale on Race Junk that are in perfect condition.(They do not make them any more).

Barry,

I've been thinking about E85, I can buy it about 15 miles from my house.

My compression ratio is 15.25, I don't know if that's pushing it or not.

I've got several 1050's and may try to convert one to E85.

I still need to research it.

IF I HAD E85 15 MILES FROM MY HOUSE, YOU CAN BET YUR A$$ THAT I'D BE RUNNING IT IN MY 15.2 TO 1 SBC AND METHANOL COULD "EAT CAKE" @ $3.65 A GALLON HERE NOW! Last I heard, Barry paid $2.90 a gallon for E85 in Jersey.

FYI, there's several I know of in the 15 to 1 compression range that are running E85 with zero problems to date!

Of course, your mileage may vary. =;

Barry,

I've got a little time to check out the E85 deal. I did start reserving Sundays for working on my Nova, but I have a lot of work to do before I can fire it up.
