I was reading over on Class Racer and the discharge nozzle screw fell out and got swallowed and another
racer said that is why we always safety wired them on when we ran dirt cars..
Anyone ever had one even come loose??

I have never safety wired mine. I use stainless hollow ones though so don't think I am drilling through those.

I drilled open the entire pump circuit for an engine I did back in the day. That included the discharge screws. I drilled the north south and east west holes to .125, making it a very weak screw. If you tightened them anything over snug, they'd break and I never had one come loose. Most of the time I put them in hand tight and then touch em with a screw driver.

What probably happened is that someone forgot to tighten that screw and it vibrated loose. s**t like this happens occasionally and even more frequently when you get older. And ask me how I know THAT? :- ;-)
