While search the web for a tool to rebush some baseplates i cam across this thread about brass verses teflon bushings and would like some of the more experienced carb guys to share their wisdom and experience on the topic of which to use.

Both BLP and AED both sell the brass bushing kit so it seems kinda odd to me.

Hysteric.

I build custom carbs as well as rebuilds and I alway's make Teflon bushings to fit the base.

With Qjets, the primary shaft hole in the base has conunterbores from the factory and I will machine a piece of soild Teflon round stock to the proper inside & outside diameters.

With Holleys, there is no need to machine the base as the shafts have machined grooves for teflon bushings.

I would think that brass would be a better material to do that repair with. Yea may be a little
bit more time but may be a better repair in the long run...Just thinking :-k

One thing to consider Barry when using brass bushings is that your resizing the base holes to accecpt the O.D. of the brass bushing and in alot of cases the larger diameter will weaken the base.

Also, the teflon will seal better and conform without resizing the base....low impact.
