I should subtract 6 thousands from my cam card spec.,14 hot I would adjust 8 cold?.It seems to me that by the time I get to the other side the valve train will have cooled down. This is for a sbc.

For my BBC with aluminum heads and cast iron block .006 works well. The cold adjustment, is just that, cold. Set them before you run the motor. Any small amount of cooling from one side to the other after the motor is already warm, I wouldn't worry about. In that scenario, I'd set them all the same.

Unless you have an alum block I'd set them what the card says or a couple thou less and warm the engine to normal temp and check the hot lash on a couple valves to see how much they moved. You can now adjust your cold lash by the amount they changed so the hot lash will be what you want.

I normally don't even bother checking them hot but set them to what I want cold and make all future changes based on that, always setting them cold. Your cam company could say exactly how much lash ramp they design into a cam lobe. Normally they have plenty to allow at least +/-.006" of lash adjustment from the spec w/o danger of hurting anything.

This has been discussed before. Here is a link to the search results on "valve adjustment" and "ken0069". You can also search for "valve lash" and find additional info.
