Your saying that you put the same filter back on your just freshened motor that was on it all last year #-o #-o #-o O:)

YES, was going to change it when I drained the break in oil out. I also run the oil filter on my Geo for 6,000 miles, which is usually about 2 to 3 years of driving. The filter on the Dodge goes 5k miles and the oil goes 10k miles. As best as I can tell, that filter on the race engine only had 25 miles or so on it? =;

FYI, I put the same oil rings, rod bearings and half the mains back in it that I took out too. Used the same valve springs but did put a new timing chain on it along with two new MLS head gaskets. And get this, I'm putting the same synthetic oil back in it too that had half a season of runs on it! =;

You really don't realize just how cheap I am, do ya! \:D/

What did you use for break in oil??? If it has a lot of Molly in it that is what plugged your oil filter....Break it in then get it out and change the filter...

8 quarts of 10W40 Rotilla T and OLD style GM EOS for break in.

We're planning to go test this coming weekend.

Yeah, it broke my heart to have to pull that set of Crower offset roller lifters out and replace them when they only had 300 passes on'em. Probably have the Wife list them on fleabay to see if I can get some of my money back out of'em. Last set of used lifters I sold on fleabay brought $120.

Was going to reuse those Cometic head gaskets but the coating was coming off of them and I was a little gun shy of'em because of that. I still have them though and may use them yet! ;-)

Sold for $100 to Rick ... That wasn't so hard. =;

I'm cheap too, but even I put new oil in after a rebuild. I just don't rebuild as often as most.

On my daily driver (yeah its a beater) I change the oil once a year. That's ~18k miles/yr and no its not synthetic. This is the 2nd car like this (88 chevy 2.5L FI 4cyl) I've had and it doesn't hurt them at all to do that. My last one went 215k (100k was me) and the frame/body rusted off it and the engine/trans was still good. My current one I've had for 4.5yrs and still going strong at 165k.

In my defense, that Rotilla T oil that was put in was new. ;-) Just left the old oil filter on it for break in.

That synthetic that I ran half the year last year is Mobile 1 V Twin oil that was around $12 a quart if memory serves but it's got the good ZDDP in it is the reason I put that in there. And the cost of 9 quarts of it is the reason I'm going to run it this year also. ;-)

Went to Eastside Speedway today and it was a wasted trip!! ](*,) Out of three attempts I never did get down the track!! Good news is after three 8K RPM burn outs the engine is still in one piece with only a slight oil leak in the front this time, which will probably require that the pan come off yet again. Oh well, will give me a reason to look at a bearing or two.

Dodge did good too so even though it was a wasted trip, everything came home usable for the next trip. Think I'll go south next time.

On another note, don't know if it was just me but this engine sounds much different from what I remember last season?? Seems to like the upper RPM range too?? Can't wait to get on a track that will hook! \:D/

You just HAD to throw that in didn't ya! :-k Thanks for reminding me. Truth is, there was one dragster there today. He tried one pass then loaded up and went home. I wasn't far behind him.
