Well guys, I talked myself into breaking it in on the dyno at jdeleon's shop (DeLeon Racing Engines). It'll be awhile before it makes the trip, I still have lots to do to the Nova and I want it ready to go to the track when I dyno the engine, so it won't be sitting around for any length of time after it's been started. I'll keep you guys posted.

Thanks for the offers Ken and Barry! =;

Probably a good idea since I don't like "pig" blocks anyway! ;-) I would have suffered through it for a friend though! ;-)

We're planning a T&T Saturday at Roxboro, Nc so this afternoon I re-plumbed my gas Dominator then pumped the tires up and put the car on the floor. Was good to see it sitting on the tires again!!! \:D/

Got another 5 gallons of C12 so now we're ready for a T&T/race or three before it goes back on methanol. Funny but that gas 1050 Dominator was showing me 13.3 on AFRs while idling yesterday. I did have to slow the idle down a bit from what it was on the 434 CID pump gas engine in the Studebaker but she was good to go as the AFRs showed. We're starting out with the jets at 92 square with no PV and I'll take a bunch of zip ties with me just in case.

Ordered another Innovate LC-1 (O2 sensor) from Greg Kelley at Motorsports Innovations today so by the end of next week we'll be logging AFRs from both sides. Be interesting to see how that new O2 will read with the old one on the other side. I will be able to switch the O2 sensors side to side to see if there is any difference between the two.

And here's a note for all you BIG compression guys. Around the shop I use 100LL AV gas in my engine. That stuff smells EXACTLY like this $10.50 a gallon C12 at less than half the cost!!! You're not likely to hurt an engine running low octane gas in the shop. Where you would get in trouble is when you try to run it down the race track. WFO is where engines get hurt, not at idle or low RPM around the shop. Went through over a gallon and a half of 100LL just running the engine in here in the shop.

As you can probably tell, I'm getting kinda excited about Saturday. Just hope that this new intake will be worth the $750+ price tag it's cost me to make it work on this engine. In the end I'll be happy if it runs as well as that tunnel ram did. If not, then the "RAM" will likely wind up back on it before season's end and I may have a bunch of carbs and parts for sale!

Good luck Ken and hope the truck trans holds together for you... ;-)
I would think with that compression ratio you would need c14 #-o especially
with the cool weather...

Looking to get out on the 26th for T&T...Can't wait to give it a try with
the new intake that Dennis did for me and the tires, different gear.. \:D/

Hope the track is not under water with all this rain :- ..I would like to
go to Raceway park but having a hard time with spending a hundred
bucks for gas for the trip O:) ..

Barry, I know what you mean about the $100 fuel cost as diesel here is up to $3.70 a gallon and it doesn't look like it's going to let up any time soon. Roxboro is a 180 mile round trip and at just under 14 MPG it's going to cost me $50 just in diesel fuel. I've got a little fun money saved up so I'll be OK for a "few" trips this spring/early summer then in hot weather I'll lay back and save a little coin for the good fall weather. At least that's the plan today. How the engine does Saturday will determine what actually happens for the rest of the year.

UPDATE: =P~ NO JOY IN MUDVILLE TODAY!

Loaded the car up this morning and noticed that oil pressure was down around 30psig?? Ran the RPM up and still no more than 35psig! WTF?? It was 55psig at idle last week?? Backed out and put the car back in the shop then changed out the oil pressure gauge only to find the second one read the same thing the first did??? O:)

So, will be NO test and tune until I find out why the oil pressure has dropped 20psig since this engine was first started a little over a week ago.

If it has a fram filter on it I would be willing to bet that's where the problem's at.

Nope, it's a NAPA, which I believe are made by Wix!

Will change the filter out before I pull the pan again. Got a feeling there's an issue with the oil pump relief valve.

Not to be a smart a$$ but do you have the by pass plugged where the filter screws on?? If that a regular Napa gold filter that can be your issue.
