I got my Brodix intake a few days ago and I need to look down the plenum to see how it looks vs. yours Barry.

From what I was told there not to good in the runners as being the same length and was also told that a Victor intake will be better out of the box and a lot better after it's ported...Here is the one that Dennis did for me..

My thought on this would be that you tricked the engine into thinking it had longer intake runners and increased the air speed by smoothing the turn from the carb/pleanum into the ports. It sounds like you picked up the air speed a lot at low end and mid range since you didn't improve on top end any.
