Never full grove for racing. 1/2 grove is just fine.

X2 - Only use 1/2 groove bearings.

Putting a groove all the way around reduces the load carrying area of the bearing on the half that carries most of the load....not good.

X3, I wouldn't use them either.

Most cranks out there now are cross drilled on the mains so that does what the full groove bearings did 35 years ago.

I use 1/2 groove also. Machine shop guy told me that once you run the full groove you have to stay with them on that crank unless you turn it. I have never tried but it makes sense.
