Ok guys, I'm just curious as to what everybody thinks my new engine will make HP wise. Here's the rundown of the build:

-Tall deck Merlin Pro block, 4.610" bore, 4.500" stroke
-Custom JE pistons, 15-15.5:1 compression (I gave that range when I ordered them, will calculate actual once I have everything)
-Total Seal Max Seal gapless top rings, AP top ring
-Custom Erson cam (got it used for a smokin' deal, looks like it was never in an engine, and was almost exact with what several cam companies recommended anyway):
Lobe Separation: 112
Valve lift intake: .817
Valve lift exhaust: .789
Intake duration: 316
Exhaust duration: 338
Specs @ .050”:
Lobe lift intake: .475
Lobe lift exhaust: .459
Intake duration: 286
Exhaust duration: 307
Intake opens: 31
Intake closes: 75
Exhaust opens: 83
Exhaust closes: 39
Overlap: 70
-Older Dart Race Series heads, CNC ported, 400cc intakes, 127cc exhausts. Not sure of the flow numbers, but have been told approx 450ish on the intakes
-Brodix HVH intake with integral 1" spacer, port matched, light porting work on inside of manifold (basically cleaned up casting flash and uneven areas, made sure all ports were dimensionally the same)
-Two circuit 1150 dominator with 12 hole annular boosters
-An occasional shot of NOS, 400 hp max. Nitrous is for certain times only, not a regular thing.

I'm building the motor to run mostly N/A, the nitrous is only for when I run the Fast 16 class (not anytime this year), so the combo isn't a true nitrous combo. The cam only needed to be "compatible" with nitrous. I'm guessing max hp in the 7500ish range. Let me know what you guys think!

IF the heads flow 450cfm and you have everything right on, it should make 1000hp+, but thats a BIG "IF". Most likely they don't flow that much and things won't be ideal. The intake will limit the power if the heads are as good as speculated. It will probably make ~ 950hp at 6800-7000rpm. Hard to say with the minimal info provided.

To get well over 1000hp with that combo the intake would have to work very good with the heads, ring and bearing drag reduced, gas porting, vacuum pump, big pan and windage work on crank & pan. Attention to detail with the intake and exhaust systems.

Do you plan to dyno the engine? or just use the track as your dyno?

Rick

I'm hoping to dyno it before it goes in the car.....I have a big pan, integral windage tray, kickout, crank scraper, pistons are gas ported, and have the option of low tension rings....haven't bought them yet though. 950 would be nice though! Rpms at 7500 or below would be cool too......

What kind of Dyno???
I don't see anyone using that intake on that size motor...I do see Sniper Jr's and some super Victor's...Who CNC'ed the heads....May be Curtis will chime in on this to give us his thought's...

I'll be taking the engine to Slatten Racing engines in Ft. Collins, Colorado. I'd take it to MadCap, but they want twice the price for the same deal.......I'd run a different intake, but that's what I have.....Can't complain when it's been given to you. I'm killing my bank account just trying to put it together, so another intake isn't gonna happen anytime in the near future unless I can find a good one and make a good deal for it at the swap meet coming up in May. Don't know who CNC'd the heads....
