Back in the old days I had a 512 1/2 stroker and a 498 1/4 stroker. the 498 was a better preformer on track but it may have been the combination of heads and cam was better suited for the smaller engine. or the smaller engine had a long rod. or the difference in bore X stroke ratio. Not much access to dynos in them days. Also had head gasket problems with the 512. Both engines had rectangle port L88 aluminum head milled and mild porting with trw big dome piston with tops shaved and dome angles changed but was the same. the difference was so pronounced, that when I put the 498 in , my driver asked how bad I was cheating? He didn't want to know how, but just wondered if he was going to get caught. lol Possibly the computer program heard this story. just kidding. I will say one of the biggest problems I had at the time was too much and too abrupt low end torque. Hard to get it hooked up on dirt.
