What I mean is, do you dial the car and carry a "couple" for the stripe? :-k

We try not to. But some times the car will pick up. Jake usually knows it and then races the big end.

If I'm not having any problems and made a good time run then I like to dial it realistically. If my previous run was .xx3 or better then I drop down to the next number for the following round. If there is a lot of speed difference with who I'm racing I dial it .01 faster than I think it will run and run it out the back door. It's tough for me to judge the finish line and know when to lift but some people are good at that. If you catch a much better light than the other guy it's easy to know when to lift but if you're both close on the tree and it's one of those rounds that is going to be within .005 then I would rather not lift.

Depends on the situation. I have been know to hold as much as .2 (was having some issues) I normally do not dial to go .01 above rather dead on or under by around .03-.06 depending on the situation. Depends on who I'm running how the car has been with the numbers and how the conditions are at the track. One thing I can tell you for sure, I don't do the same thing round after round. Have to mix it up to keep people guessing. I may have the same dial on the window as the round before but have ways to go under that too at any time (and I don't have NOS).

I like to dial the number and run it all the way out. No brakes for me.

I try to dial mostly honest but it's better to have a little left than not run the number. I definietley don't dial a hundreth under my expected et. It takes practice driving the stripe close. I need to get better at it. Nobody can dial perfect so there will be some variation and I prefer to have a little left in the bank where you can at least try to drive the stripe as opposed to not running the number and nothing you can do but hope the other guy can't drive the stripe.
I will sometimes dial different depending on my opponent. Maybe a hundredth lower if my opponent is a lot faster than me.

i will hold as much as needed to cover my worst lite normally or alot more .
the car runs consistent and i know where the spot is to dump even on a time shot /byerun .
if you leave me .01+ at the stripe and what ever your lite is as long as it more than my lite i can squeeze in . having a bottle in every car helps so i can run my spot and hit it to make the dial .
or push you out. there a bunch more tactics and strategies to use against someone who as aj said does it the same everyway . i can go 10.00 at 142 or 118 with confidence.
would you bet on a 2-1 horse or a 10-1 horse if you had to bet each round !

When I was running in the 6.80's I could dump .02 every pass. As the truck got faster it got harder for me to find the spot so I try to dial it dead on.

I am holding, except when I am not. =;

They way I look at this, is you are giving yourself more way to win. If your are dialing to flat it out the back door, car turns a tire, now your are down. Holding, you can still put it on the dial. I have one many rounds doing just this. I know I can always put the car on the number, you can't say that flat footing it. Lots of other strategies involved with it. It gives you more ways to win the round when applied properly.

I dial honest of what I think it will run flat out for that run. I have issue's where it will run say a 6.10 in time runs then a 6.12 or 6.13 because the track goes away. So I dial with it. If it hooks better I get to play the other end or I get screwed. I have won many more rounds because of Reaction Time.
Driving the big end when it is real close don't happen very often for me either I am on or not.

Depends on who or what I'm running. I had a race recently that was going to be a heads up race. I know we were both holding and it got real exciting at the far end. I went under by .002 'cause I'm a stripe hog.
