After a long summer and not much racing, I've decided to sell my old dragster. It's hard letting go of it because of the history and how I got it, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. I've got a buyer for it that plans a partial restoration to it's original condition, minus the chassis updates it has (still plans to race it so keeping it legal for cert) and I'll still be racing against him, so I'm ok with it. I found a smoking deal on a newer (2001) car that is complete minus engine and trans, which I have already, and could be racing after just a few hours of work. Drop in the engine and trans, hook them up, it's ready, it's that complete. Owned by Dennis Kline of Huntsville Engine and Performance. It was built for him and he's owned it since. Raced Quick 8 and Top Dragster with it up until last year. Only thing it needs is new cert on chassis, as it expired this year, and a new seat belt. I'm excited about it! It's a 257" wb car, triple slip joint, Mike Bos built car. It will be fun! I do know I'll fit better in the car since Dennis is the same size I am and it was built to fit him. Now I just need to get the cash from mine (next Saturday I'll get it when the buyer comes to pick up the car), sell some other stuff to get the rest of the money, and then figure out how I'm going to get it!!! I'm gonna have to either rent or borrow a trailer and shuffle some bills around for fuel!!! I'll figure something out though!!!!

Mark I would have him get it certified and if it passes tell him you will pay for it since your going to have to get it done anyway...

That's a great idea, but I'm likely going to strip the car and repaint the frame before I get the new sticker on it. I have a paint sponsor that I didn't use this year, so I'm going to hit them up this time. Won't be anything fancy on the frame, but the body is going to get something nice, just haven't figured out all the details yet. I could just mask off the new sticker, but it will be easier to just get it done after it's ready. I'm hoping to have the car out here before too awful long, so I can get it ready for the first test and tune of next year, which is also a free chassis cert day (no fees just the price for the tag), just have to figure things out. He's good with holding it for me though, and that helps a lot......

Most dragster frames are power coated? :-k

I'm sure you're probably aware of this but I'm going to remind you anyway. You need to check that frame real close in the rear engine mount area on the left side. I've seen more than a few of them that have cracked in the upper left tube where the engine mount bolts in. I've also seen the top "X" brace crack on that side.

So is this car setup for a Turbo 400 also? :-k

As Ken has said cracks,,,and also check the front just behind the the steering uprights they crack there and on the bottom of the uprights...If that chassis has been run in top dragster it's been hammered fairly hard and twisted up fairly hard...Go take some time and really look it over real good it will be worth your time to "know" what your spending your money on...
I know it all sound negative but we are looking out for "your" best interest here!!!

No worries Barry and Ken, chassis will get thoroughly looked over!!! My chassis guy here is one of the best in the business! Another reason for holding off on the cert and for stripping down the chassis. I'm also considering rewiring it to my specs, but I'll see how it's done when I get it here before I make any decisions.

No Ken, my th400 won't fit.........damnit............but a Lencodrive will!!!!

I can probably build TWO damn near bullet proof Glides for what you're likely going to pay for that Lenco! ;-)

The new one looks good. I guess some times you just have to find the stop point and look in a different direction. Keep us updated on the changes. =;

Barry, just never been a big fan of them, and I know how to tune around three speeds. Despite what everybody else runs, think about it this way, if powerglides were so good, then why doesn't pro stock run them? I know, I know, not the best argument, but me, I like to be different. I just think there are better choices out there. Just because it's the most popular and everybody runs it, doesn't mean it's the best.........But with the new car, I'm stuck with it, so I'll run one........for now...

Speaking of the new car, the sale of my old one isn't happening now. I still have a source for the cash for the new one, but I won't know more until tomorrow or Wednesday..............things change way to fast around here I tell ya.................Plan is still to get the new car though......so we'll see in a few days what pans out......
