We had our next Street Car Shootout at Cecil on Saturday August 4th. Summer time conditions, warm & muggy. Temps in the upper 80's, humidity anywhere from 62 to 82%. Air D/A ranged from 3000' at the worst to 2400 at the best.

The Malibu ran real well hooking every pass. First qualifier the car ran a 5.369 @ 128.07 trying some leaner jetting which the car didn't seem to like. Second qualifier the car ran 5.342 @ 128.96 mph good enough for the #1 qualifying position.

First round we got the bye and ran a 5.343 @ 128.79.

Second round we ran a 5.347 @ 128.48.

Semi final round we ran a losing 5.353 @ 128.82 (semi-deep stage) against Marc's winning 5.249 @ 135.61 charge. I staged deeper and took the tree with a .028 R/T to his .077, held the lead to approx 300', but couldn't hold off his top end charge (Marc TEC McCloud lol).

60's were 1.227, 1.219, 1.220, 1.215 and 1.240 (deeper stage).

Car ran real well, my driving was about the best it's been, just couldn't get past Marc to make it to a final round. Definitely need to find some luck with the ladder pairings to get to the finals.

A couple small changes seem to be helping the car get down the track when others seemed to be struggling, probably one major reason why we qualified number 1 as so many struggled with their qualifying passes. I did try adding some power twice though the day, did not show any gains on track. I was a little disappointed with the ET & MPH (MPH more than ET). I know the weather wasn't great, but thought with the setup it should have ran quicker.

Cars on stands with the trans out right now. Converter got shipped out this morning for some tweaks.

I've got my fingers crossed I'll have it back to get some test runs before the YB Nats Labor day weekend.

Here's some video of the class runs, I'll post pics as I find them.

Good job on #1 qualifier and going rounds. What is your overall ET goal?

thanks.

The car has run 5.23 @ 131 with a 1.15 60', but at a different track. I'd like to get the car into the mid 5.2x range in the heat at Cecil which right now is a tenth away.

Converter rework and swap from VP C15 to Q16 should put me real close to that goal.

In the fall I wanna go back and test at MIR again (where the 5.23 was run) and see if we can go into the teens and also see if it'll make it to the 1/4 mile stripe without banging the rev limiter to see what it'll run in the 1/4 in good air.

That is a good plan. No shooting for the moon. It seems your class is maxed out in the range you want to be which is a good thing.

That sure did turn out to be a nice car!!!

Good to see you enjoying it and doing so well right out of the box.

Thanks again for letting us watch, I learned a lot, and it's nice to be able to go back and revisit your thread as a reference.

Great job! What do you do with all of your spare time now? =;
