Well, I've been chasing that elusive 140 MPH time slip all season running pretty much 139 and change everywhere I've been and I finally got 3 of them today in the 140.2xx range on gas!! Made 6 passes testing today and everything came home in one piece too so it was an excellent day all around. ;-) \:D/

I've run out so I'm done on gas and since I got a new drum of methanol last week I guess I'll switch over next time out. That'll be one test session then I guess I'll settle down and actually start racing some since I'm finally comfortable in the car.

Oh, and my old Camaro was at the track today for it's first time out with the new owner running with a 498 BBC and ran 5.26 on an "undisclosed" NO2 shot with too much gear and right rear preload. Yeah, it wanted to turn left just a bit leaving but he drove it out of it. He sure is happy with that thing and I'm glad since first time out with one can be a mammajammer! ;-) When I found out he was there, I told him that had I known he was gonna be there, I wouldn't have! O:) It was all good though! \:D/

Yeah Barry, I'm going to leave gas without trying a final tuneup but that data will be available this fall should I want to go back. I only checked about half the data yesterday but what I saw says that the secondary side of those carbs is STILL phat starting at the hit then trails off toward the lean side through out the run? I bought some 1 to 1 linkage for those carbs but never did try that. Maybe look into that this fall though. I can't say for sure but I believe there are 3 E holes in those HP metering blocks so I may have to plug the middle one to try to slow the fuel surge earlier in the run.

A/B Test? Testing with the Camaro a few years back showed that it was just a tick quicker on gas so we'll see how that works out with this car over the coming weeks.

Oh, and I have some 1/4" wire mesh that I made to fit over the carbs like an air filter would only with no filter element in and they slowed it down on the only pass I ran them. They also changed the AFRs on the cylinders I was reading at the time too making them slightly richer. I've used those in the past to try to kill some of the turbulence around the top of the carbs but from what I saw yesterday I may need to try something different.

And on a final note, the best run yesterday was 5.01 @ 140.2 MPH with a 1.151 short time. I've done 1.121 there before but I can't seem to get back there now. Had the short time been a 1.12 that 5.01 would have been a 4.98, which I've run there before earlier this season. This has me wondering if the tires are falling off as they don't feel as sticky now as they were when I first started running them. I may have to "bite the bullet" for a new set if this keeps up. OUCH! O:)

How's this look after a day of test and tune at the track?

That's 6 eight mile passes on C12 and an unload from the trailer this afternoon.

Actually inside that header is about 2 shades darker than what the picture shows. I think the flash kinda washed it out.

Oh, and this was with less than 5psig fuel pressure down track. Probably averaged around 4.5psig.
