I bought an Earls fuel shut off 1/2 npt ball valve from Summit for 35.95. When I got I was surprised to see how restricted it was. So I went to Lowes and got one for 16 with a much bigger hole for the fuel to pass through. As long as the seals are teflon, you shouldn't have any leak problems. McMaster has some for about 9 bucks, but I had no way of knowing how restricted they were.

Ron I had one like that for years on my Vega and never had an issue with it...

This may be a big one or not. I'll post a photo when I can. The Super Flow 901 dyno we use had a fuel pump seal fail. It's a Magna Flow even though it says Super Flow.

Couldn't find a seal and a fellow general service shop owner provided us with a seal from a Chrysler transmission that was a perfect fit. Says he uses these to repair these pumps all the time, and they last a long time too. Wonder if it fits the BG 400 pump.

I'll post the exact details ASAP.

Okay, here's the deal on the MaganFuel pump seal.

So what my pal tells me. It's the kick down seal for a Chrysler transmission. They come in the rebuild kits for these transmissions. Most rebuilders don't use them because the opening is above the fluid level. So to those guys they're a throwaway item. Also, they don't seem to be serviced separately. You need the kit to get the seal.

Maybe your local trans rebuilder has some hanging around.

X2 on the AVGas !
I've been running it for a couple years now in my blown (10 lbs boost) 540 and I like it.
I think its a high quality fuel.
Up here in Canada I was paying ~$700 / drum for race gas, AVGas is ~$350 / drum.

And E85 is CHEAPER and BETTER than AVGas!! I know of ppl running 15 to 1 compression that are running E85. Don't know if it's available there in CA but it might be worth a look. ;-)

Hmmmmmmm, haven't noticed, but then, I don't get out much ;-) , normally fill up at a cardlock.
I've seen notices like "may contain up to 5 or 10 % Methanol" but never noticed "E85".
So, is E85 = 85% methanol or 15% methanol ?

OK, answered my own question: 85% Ethanol.
So does that mean on my blown 540 the tech guy would want to see blower restraints if I'm on E85 ?
Bigger fuel pump ? Same between races maintenance as methanol ?

Don't know about the blower restraints but most guys run the same fuel pump, assuming of course that you have a good quality high volume pump like a Magnifuel or Aeromotive to begin with. I know a guy that ran methanol with a BG-400 pump with a 496 BBC a few years back.

Also not sure what you mean about "maintenance" as the only thing I do with methanol that I don't do with gas is I drain the carb fuel bowls between races and that's about it. Those nytrophil floats are $125 a set so I do take care of those!! I do an oil change every season or two whether it needs it or not cuz methanol carbs don't typically milk the oil up. I do run $12 a quart 20w 50 Mobile 1 V Twin oil though.

FYI, Beretta just bought E85 up in Jersey for like $3.30 a gallon and I do believe he said that the price had dropped to $2.90 a week or two later. Sounds good doesn't it? ;-)

Google searched for "E85 BC Canada" ....... says only 3 E85 stations in Canada, all in Ontario +- 2,000 miles from me. So, I guess I won't be burning E85 anytime soon. :-s

Sounds like you and I have the same problem as the nearest supply for me is 70 miles away in Charlottesville, Va. I just recently bought a drum of methanol @ $200 so it's borderline for me by the time I drive 140+ miles to get it.

I do keep that thought in the back of my mind though and one day it just might happen. ;-)
