Hardinsburg gets another one [-( [-( [-( . Yeah Jody we are in the same boat. #-o In the index race last night on a second round bye run. The wagon was running 1.47 -1.50 60's running 6.85's We added more fuel cause of the round robin so the 60's went to 1.50. The first round it spun pretty good to where it shook the car. But he got the win. During the bye run Jake goes to 1-2 shift and it was like someone tried to slam on the brakes. I'll post pictures when I get it apart. 2 weeks to Indy. I don't know if the track did it or it has been 7 years and a lot of runs in all kinds of conditions. It has been about 3 years with no issues so I guess it was our turn ;-) .

I think you guys need to ditch those dinky 10 bolts. As you increase your power level and get the car hooking better you're gonna find the weak links.

Oh yeah, US60 has some hook \:D/ . My best 60s are at that track.

You can get both a 9" and a Dana 60 that will bolt in that car. TMC just bought another Dana for the V8 Turbo Regal he's building and I think it came from S&W with the back half kit he got. He also has one in his Hurst Olds tool. I hate'em and he loves'em. Whatever blows your skirt up I guess, hey! ;-)

Did he ask you "how's that?" after it broke =;

I thought you still had he 10 bolt in it but if you were gonna buy a different rear why didn't you go with the 9"?
Do you have the cast cover with the diff cap load bolts? I would say the ring gear let go 1st and they were probably fractured for at least a little while. If you look close at the base of the tooth you might even find a couple of more cracks. Something I do when I flip the slicks on mine is trun the wheels by hand. If you feel any tight spots it's getting ready to go. How many runs did it have on it?

Nothing wrong with Motive Gear gear sets, IMHO. I've got two set. One set is in the Dodge and the other is a Pro Gear that is in the Camaro, which has survived a reverse shift @ 125MPH a couple of years back.

And that 12 bolt gear is just as strong as the 9", just a PITA to setup, almost as bad as a Dana 60.

Was this one that broke a street gear or pro gear? :-k

Do you have the cast cover with the diff cap load bolts? One is on the way.

How many runs did it have on it? Close to 2000 we bought it in Mar 2005

Ken it is the street strip gear. I ordered the pro gear.

I say you got your moneys worth...I 've had good luck with a 12 bolt, I have had a 60 in my car since 2003 when I built it. They are a pain to set up but I haven't touched it since 2003.

Wow, that's a lot of runs. I don't think I cold average nearly 300 runs per year if I quit going to work. I would agree you got your money's worth out of those gears and I wouldn't be afraid to put the same type back in it. Those covers not only reinforce the caps but they reduce flex in other areas so it should help a bunch.

Are you running a crush collar or a shim pack under the pinion nut?

Don, it had a long collar and a shim. It didn't look like a normal cruch collar. Chuck we had talked about getting that back plate for several years but the cost kept us away :- Should a could a =;
