Hi all, my name is Grant Petagna and I am from Port Pirie in South Australia. I am currently building my first competition drag car and thought this forum had lots of information to offer, thats why I am here. Racing is not going well in this state at the moment with only a couple of 1/8th mile tracks running but hopefully we will see a new world class Motorplex built in Adelaide so we can have National events back here again. Anyway, hopefully the car will be ready late this year and I can have some fun in it.
Cheers,
Grant.

G'day Mate! Yup, we got RodRocket and Clinker and Shrinker and there's a couple more that don't come in very often. We also got one member in New Zealand but his username doesn't come to mind right now.

Anywho, glad to have you join us and hope you time here is both fun and informative! ;-)

Oh, and we will need more pics of the car. Start a post down in the "Show Your Stuff" or "Under Construction" section so we can see where you are and you can tell us where you're going. \:D/

GiDay Grant, Nice professional looking car. Should go good, hammer those wheelie bars. The news on a race track here is not good. The Gov wont allow the people with the money to build a track because they claim it will encourage 'hoon' driving. There is street protest and then a Government house rally on another day happening here in late August. Do you know about it?

Hoon Driving is what the gov here calls anyone who exceeds the speed limits or drives recklessly. The gov encourages people to ring up and report "offenders" to the police. This results in untrained people accusing others of acts that they think are incorrect. It is also a system of abuse where people report someone who they dont like for things that were never done. Even fuel station attendants will ring up if a car chirps the tires on the smooth concrete due to a shift kit transmission or a locker diff etc.

The gov here is trying to follow Englands lead and crush peoples cars. The trouble is there have already been instances where they have crushed cars that belonged to other people, not the ones driving them, and that has created a legal problem. Also they have crushed cars that were later proven to be innocent in court, mistaken identity cases etc.

Hi Guys and thanks for the welcome's.

I have been following the problem here in SA and try to do what I can but will miss the meeting due to work. I think the Government will get a wake up call when the protest happens and hopefully they get their a$$ into gear. I do love how drag racing gets the blame for the hoon driving when they back the V8 Supercars street race [-( . I think the main problem is that it will not make the government any money due to being privately owned but they are missing the point on the boost to state economy and also jobs. Hopefully we will see some progress shortly.

Won't be going to Sydney either, went to the Winters for the first time in June (as a spectator) and had a blast so want to see a few more interstate meetings but trying to save to finish my engine off. Heads are getting done at the moment then I just need a carby and converter and it will be a runner. Hopefully have it going by the end of the year to get sorted and then start running competition next season.

Cheers, Grant.

our steering wheels are on the Right side
