Well as a recovering motorcycle addict I had to get a new toy.. Reason for getting rid of the "crotchrocket" was that I realised that I had used up almost al my luck, so I thought it best to get rid of it.. Back in 2002 the withdrawal symptoms became to much to handle, I just had to get myself a new toy... Came to think about it and I always liked the old american muscle cars, so why not :-k

This is what I ended up with. A 1970 Dodge Charger 500
(Click the links, pics are to large to post here)

When I bought it, it had a tired "smogger" 400cid engine. So it was more or less only "Show and No Go".
In 2003 I made the decision to do something about the "No Go" issue. Tore down the car and rebuilt everything but the body. The ride is built more or less to fit into the "Stock" dragracing class.

Found a 440 engine for sale. It had run ok powering the former owners Challenger. Nothing exotic, just bolt on parts. Had it dynoed and the numbers were 542Hp and 550fptq. Not bad... Sadly the 440 died a horrible death in 2006. The autopsy later reviled that it was not built that well. The bore was to tight, no oil holes in the rods, etc.. Cool thing was though, that the last run I did with it, to put it out of its missery, I ran 13sec flat, and that with a seriously busted up engine... and beat a BB Chevelle running in the other lane \:D/

The 440 engines last run..

This is how I got home..

The quest then began to find a new power plant to power the Charger. This is what I bought..

This is a 426 Hemi. What makes this engine special is that it is a REAl Race Hemi. Its an old Pro Stock engine that powerd a Sox & Martin built Duster back in the 70s. The Duster was named "Brooklyn Heavy".

The Duster "Broklyn Heavy" is still around, gathering dust in a collectors garage here in Sweden. It needs a compleat overhaul cause of the 1/4mile battle scars over the years.. The owner has been in contact with me and wanted to buy the engine, to date we have not come to an agreement, so for now the Hemi stays in my ride...

This is what it looks like at the moment...

Machined block for weight saving.
Kellog crank
Nascar rods and Venoalia Hitop pistons. Comp around 12.7:1 (will raise the comp. back to 13.5:1 come season 2010)
Mullen ported aluminum heads (D4A double sparkplug heads)
Cranecams hyd. roller # 669551
Geardrive
Milodon oiling system. Custom made oilpan.
Indy high rise intake
1050cmf Holley Dominator (Right now converted to run on E85)

Going to add a Nitrous system later on...

My aim with the Charger is to run a 9sec time slip... First race this season is in the end of May. Just hope I can get the carb working before that... E85 conversion is not as simple as some make it to be...

This is what the Charger looks like at the moment... Looks kinda like a Police car #-o Maby I should paint the doors and trunk lid white to???

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a225/ ... 0022_2.jpg

Had to buy a new hood, the old hood with a Six-Pack scoop is to low.. Im gonna paint the hood flat black later on...
There is still a major issue I have to take care of. At the moment the car does not have a rollbar. Im gonna have one made as soon as possible... Then again I have no idea what the car will run, maby I dont even need it =; I hope to run in the high 10sec with it as it is.. Remains to be proven...
