Well what's the good, bad the ugly about your 2012 racing season thus far on E85?

My season started out well until I changed rear end grease after the first week on the new gears. Had a bad set of gears I put in the car and 3 teeth on ring gear and 1 on the pinion gear separated and broke off in chips. Did make 3 passes and went a best of 10.30@129 through the mufflers @3800lbs.

Fixed the rear end gear and went out the next week only to have the car fall on its face when I. Went to get on 2-step. Looked at o2 logs and was going lean matting it. So I fix that by riching up the idle circuit and t slot a bit. Back car out of the trailer and break the transmission. Broke the low reverse drum so packed it in. Just got tranny together tonight and working to get it back in the car.

So far it has been an eventful start but feel confident that all issues are gone now and will have a good one this weekend.

I expect having enough motor to run 10.30s @ 3800 lbs you're probably gonna break a lot of s**t! ;-) And that's the good news unless you'd rather go slow. =;

I haven't broken much of anything in the race car the past couple of years, knock on wood but I've broken more than enough on the tow truck and my daily driver instead.

In your case, maybe you've gotten that part behind you now. ;-)

Ran last Saturday night with a 1250 on E85, have some work to do to it yet as I wasn't completely happy with it, but rattled off 4 - 5.33's and 4 - 5.32's to make it to 9 cars. Once it's where I want it I'll post some specs for it.

Good cuz Barry has been patiently waiting for that info. ;-)

Yeah ken I am hoping I found the last weak link for now. I didn't expect car to go quite so fast this year as we detuned a little from last year with cam and compression. Gues the new gear and converter had other ideas. Lol. This motor may be in my rail by seasons end.

I just sent Barry a note regarding another E-85 1050.

A friend has one of mark's loaner carbs on his 540 powered Monte Carlo. I found out this afternoon it went 5.35@139 this past Saturday and won the event. I haven't had a chance to tell mark yet as he's working today.

aj, sorry things aren't going you way yet this season. But, they will.

I'm back to bracket racing til September. Then it's Super Street again.

Bruce I am looking at doing some hot rod IHRA super street. Need a 4500 throttle stop and controller though. You wouldnt happen to have a used one I could rent? Anything different in carb setup for the stop? Have never run any car with one.

I just bought a drum of methanol Tuesday and it was $200. From what the guy was saying, I won't be able to get it at that price next time! That comes out to about $3.65 a gallon which is about what I hear E85 is going for.

If the price for methanol is going to go higher still I may have to look at my options for next season.

Ken, I know you know this but, for the others, just in case.

E-85 requires approximately 30% more fuel. So the cost would be $3.85 plus 30% or $5.00 to compare to other fuel costs.

He's got the parts, just needs the calibration.

I run a linkage stop (Dedenbear TS30) because I'm limited by hood height and I use an SLC when I bracket race. If you have room an undercarb stop is what I would recommend for a Super class. Air or electric, Dedenbear or #1 Stop are the ones I see. Talk to those guys they should get you pointed in the correct direction.

Will your delay box control a throttle stop? If so you're on your way. What kind of delay box do you have?

Get Crew Chief 7. Don's a great guy to deal with. Support is outstanding. Build me some brownie points by telling him I told you to call.

Bruce methanol's ratio to gas is suppose to be 2.3 x so E85 would be much less fuel than I need with methanol now.

I've checked before and on methanol I generally use about 3 quarts per pass trailer to trailer. Two weeks ago on C12 I used 1.5 quarts per pass trailer to trailer.

Oh, and did we hijack AJ's thread or what! ;-)
