Sorry to hear of your loss. It is the toughest thing in life. May she rest in peace.

I lost my Dad 2 weeks before my 21st birthday. He was only 45 and had a massive heart attack. I had been a "problem teenager" when I lived at home and probably contributed to his demise and only in the last 6 months or so of his life did we finally get on good terms as I was married then with a baby to raise and was finding out just how smart the old man really was. I regret being a dumb ass all those years because I missed out on a lot of quality time I could have spent with him.

My Mom passed in June 1998 @ 72 of complications from smoking all her life. My brother and I visited with her the day before she passed and I have fond memories of that visit to this day. We had watched her go down hill over a period of about 4 years and knew that she wouldn't be around much longer but ya know, and Barry will probably back me up on this, you think you're prepared for it but when it happens, you find out that you really weren't! There's just no way to ease the pain of that loss!

Oldtimer, the only thing that can be said to give you any comfort is for you to remember the good times and try not to dwell on your loss.

For those of us that are "believers", we can take comfort knowing we shall see those loved ones again one day!!

May she rest in peace!

Sorry for the loss of your mom. I can tell you that it ain't easy. But, like you will have I have those memories and lots of photos. She and I went through some tough times together. She'll always be with me.

Like Ken, I lost my Dad at 21. He was 44 and died in a boating accident on Lake St. Clair. I too had been a bit of a problem, being the natural smart aleck that I am. I made some judgements only teens can make and they were the wrong ones. We we're not on good terms when he passed, so I never got to tell him how I appreciated his counsel and guidance. For that reason, I made sure my mom knew how I felt. In forty plus years, not a day has passed that I haven't thought of him at least once.

For the OP. Your heart and those of your family are hurting right now so I'd like to pass on this quote I saw somewhere.

"Those who are fortunate enough to live on in the hearts of others never truly die."

I'm real sorry for your loss. I lost my dad in '98 and my mom in '05. It was a lot harder losing mom and it's not that I didn't love my dad just as much, I guess moms are just a little extra special. I was fortunate enough to have my parents until I was well into adulthood and was a dad myself. Put your trust in God, He can bring you through it. I'll say a prayer for you and your family.

Dennis,

Boy, I am very sorry to hear about this, may she rest in peace. =P~ My mom is in her 80's and is so frail but hanging on best she can. My plans are to be with both my parents as long as I can afford to go see them, and even if I can't afford it. They are about 245 miles away and it is such a great time when my wife and I head up north in Michigan from Detroit to see them both. We have a laugh festival everytime we visit with them.

Stay strong and do like Ken said, try to remember the good times and keep pictures around to remember her by.
Prays are said for you and the rest of your family.

John

ps, go racing, that will help ease the emptyness maybe!
