Our comunity was hit hard by sandy, i will post pics of how powerful a storm can be. most of the major damage was not caused by wind but caused by water and the power it can posses.

my house had 6 inches inside and 18 inches in the back den where i keep my guns and reloading equipment man cave so to speak, the garage had 39 inches as it is on a slab and not raised at all.

our shop at the marina had 69 inches of water the two houses in the rear of the property had 74 inches of water in them. All the boats on land were piled up into corners or taken away by the tidal surge..

Bayfront properties took the worst of the storm and acted as dikes for the inner properties protecting them from the surge of waves..

rugs,furniture and flooring removed from my house, electric tools from garage..

WOW =P~

Sorry Tony as that's an entire life's worth of work that was wiped out!!! I guess the only positive note here is that you and your family are OK physically. ](*,)

Glad you're ok, but so sorry for everything else. That will take years to rebuild a town hit like that.

I feel so sorry for you and your family. The reality of the situation is far worse than what was reported on the news. Its terrible to have to go through it and then have to recover like your going to do.

I hate to see anyone have to go through something like that. We've had a couple of tornadoes with within a few miles of us and flooding that got within a foot or two of getting in the shop, had some trees damaged, been snowed in and freezing rain so bad that it broke trees and power lines. A couple of times we got a couple of inches of water in the basement and I know what a hassle that was but nothing that compares to what you all are going through. Makes me realize how fortunate I've been. I can't imagine how tough that must be.

Feel for you buddy!!!!!! As long as family is safe that is what matters..You and the boys will have a rough time for a wile but keep your head up it will get better.

It was rough here but nothing like what you have..Lost a couple trees and had no power for 6 days.

berretta, where all ok, i have flood insurance but it looks like it will be a long time before a check will be mailed..
odd thing is we have few trees in the area so we were witout power for one day, we were allowed back to the house 430 pm the day after the storm, rescue and police went door to door and opened streets as they made headway, 4 people from little egg lost their lives staying behind, hypothermia set in..
we removed the rugs and flooring imediatly to dry out the house and cut holes in the walls, i did not turn the power on for a couple days ran off the gen so i could make sure electric was ok some outlets went under.
the wood stove did a great job drying out the house and we are still only running the wood stove all the duct work has come apart and the ac condenser also went under..

the foundation to the house sank and some block work dropped loose, the engineer said all the peers in the center of the house tilted and cracked and the sill plate shifted on the right front corner from water erosion..
