Hi Guys, The 65 Malibu I bought in 1999. I brought it home in pcs on a trailer, no motor, trans,no brakes, you know, the usual project conditions. I slapped a .040 over 350 in it with a TH350, and drove it like that for awhile. Then swapped in a 200-4R OD automatic for better cruising. Over the winter in 2008 I built a new motor for it. It's a small block 400, bored .030, Eagle crank & 5.7 rods, balanced rotating assy, Keith Black pistons, file fit rings,King bearings. I bought the Edelbrock top end kit with Performer RPM alum heads, Air gap intake,RPM cam, double roller timing set. Currently running an Edelbrock 750 carb and mechanical pump. The motor makes 470 HP on the desktop dyno. Shortly after dropping it in the car, the motor made a victim of the 200-4R, so I swapped in a Muncie M20. Then I figured the 308 gears had to go, so built a 12 bolt posi with 373's. Then I scored a Tremec T56 from a guy who just moved into the city and got tired of shifting. I'm using a Ram 12" clutch and pressure plate. Its a great cruiser with the .63 overdrive 6th, but still pretty quick for a streeter. Runs mid 12's when it hooks, gets 22 mpg.
