Since I'm a new member, I thought I'd post a couple pics to show the car I built and race.

Todd, nice pics and an impressive launch in that video on skinny tires no less!.  Give us some specs on your ride.  Steel or fiberglass?  What's it weigh?  Type of suspension?  Engine details..

Looks great!

George

The car is a '79 Malibu, all steel except for the fiberglass front bumper and hinged 5" cowl hood.

The car as run in those pictures weighs 3450 lbs w/driver. If I take the ballast bar out it can weigh as little as 3350 lbs w/driver.

The engine is a .030" over 454 bbc (461 ci) with 13.4 to 1 compression, mild Bullet solid roller cam, BMF 310cc heads, Vic jr intake and a 1000HP 4150 Pro Systems Holley carb. The car is run all motor, no power adders.

trans is a th400, 8" ATI Treemaster converter flashing between 5800-6150 rpm depending on the air conditions. The car is footbrake launched exclusively, no t-brake.

The rear is a 12 bolt with Mark Williams 35 spline axles, spool, 11/16" drive studs, billet caps, 4.10 Richmond street gears, and a LPW aluminum girdle cover.

Suspension is basic bolt-on upgrades to the stock stuff with the rear upper control arms and and instant center relocation device being designed and built by myself.

Best performance to date is 9.47 @ 140 in the 1/4 mile, 5.990 @ 115 mph in the 1/8 mile and a best 60' of 1.297 footbraking on a 325/50-15 Mickey Thompson ET Street DOT Drag Radial tire.

The car is launched at 2500-3000 rpm off the footbrake and 1-2 and 2-3 shifts made at 7500 rpm.

During the spring and fall I play with the car trying to tune for new personal best ET's and during the summer months I race a few local heads up organizations in the fixed ET index racing series detuning the car to run the 10.0 index bracket.

Oh yea, the trailer in the last two pictures I designed and built a few years back.

That is a nice looking car. \:D/

Oh and your trailer, my friend has one very similar, minus the header clearance bar. Yours is better.

Thanks for the compliments. As with many car projects out there, this one will never be done. I always have new ideas I'd like to try.

Sometime down the road I'd like to cut the cage out and redo it in chomoly making some tube placement changes and stip the body back down to bare metal again and try to make the body and paint a bit nicer than it is now. Pictures can hide alot of flaws that are visible in person.
