But it is my new Habit. I do have plans for it, but will be taking my sweet time and making sure it is done exactly the way I want it. There will be NO compromises made to acheive what I want from it.

So exactly what it is you plan to do with this Mint Condition Monte SS? I hope a cutting torch isn't in the plan! [-X Just how fast do you think one of those things could go at Bonneville :-k

Well as far as Bonneville goes the record for the class I would run is approx 230 MPH. I dont expect to ever see that .. or ever make it to the Salt with a car for that matter. But that is a Dream and if all the stars line up correctly one day ... then I will go for it. I do have a goal of going 200 MPH in something before I die, I have been offered a ride to do it in but I need to buy a 1,000$ fire suit + pay their expenses and entry fee ... another 1500 $. I'm not ready to shellout that much $$ for that just yet as that kinda $$ would help out my habit quite a bit.

The Record at Maxton ( ECTA ) is approx. 184 MPH and that is a more realistic goal. As its only a 9 hr. drive for me. Also at Bonneville ANY car that goes down the track HAS to have a roll cage, it doesnt matter if it only goes 45 MPH. At Maxton one isnt required until 135 MPH and there is a 5 MPH grace, so techincally 141 MPH before you get sent home.

I dont want to make any non reversable changes until I am positive it will reach certain goals. And since I have a GPS, I will use it to my advantage if all works well and shut off early and coast through the traps under the 140 limit. At that time I will install a cage and go for the record.

For now I am building up a mild 383 using that Target block I have just to play around and cruise with and am looking for a used aftermarket block that has or will take a fresh 4.155 bore to get serious with.

Regardless of what changes end up taking place I do plan on keeping it streetable for the most part. As when I took my 64 off the streets is when I started to loose interest in it.

Did you go run at Maxton this year? I am curious, I just have not heard much about it lately.
